A professor of a medical school said to his students: “To be a doctor, you need to be brave and careful.” Then he put his finger into a glass full of urine, sucked the finger, and asked the students to do the same. All the students put their fingers into the glass, and sucked. Everyone felt sick about the lousy taste. The professor smiled, “I’m pleased that every one of you is brave!” Then he frowned, “but none of you is careful enough to notice that I put my index finger into the glass, but sucked my middle finger.”

This is a story told by Happy Bangxin----the bulletin of our Company. From time to time, we receive the bulletin, informed about the latest news of the company, and entertained by a funny and thoughtful story as above. This bulletin is one of the indicators of Bangxin’s corporate culture------Happiness.
这是我们公司的工作简报,《快乐邦信》,中的一个故事。我们时常收到工作简报,简报的内容是公司新闻和一个有趣并耐人寻味的故事。这简报就是邦信企业文化的标志之一——快乐。
Ladies and gentlemen, what I’m here presenting to you is the spirit of happiness, the corporate culture of Bangxin Asset Management Co.’s.
女士们先生们,现在请允许我为大家呈现邦信资产管理公司的企业文化——快乐精神!
Happiness, frequently mentioned though, is interpreted in thousands of ways by different people. A child would feel happy if he was taken to a park. A student would feel happy if the teacher cancelled next day’s test. As for us, who are in employment, we often wish others a happy weekend, or a happy holiday. But have you ever been wished a happy work day? Seldom. As a matter of fact, when working, we are supposed to be diligent, dedicated, and professional rather than happy. Therefore, standards like conscience, discipline, and enterprising spirit are often highlighted in different corporate cultures. Of all the corporate cultures in the world, happiness can be hardly found, not to mention cherished.
快乐虽然是个十分常见的词语,但每个人对快乐的定义都不同。小孩子觉得逛公园很快乐,学生觉得取消考试很快乐。对于我们员工来说,我们常彼此祝福周末快乐或节日快乐。但您被祝愿过工作快乐吗?很少。实际上,在工作中,我们应该勤勉、尽责和专业。因此,公司文化多半突出道德、责任心、进取甚至纪律。在所有公司文化中,快乐很少被提及,更不用说受到重视了。
So here comes the question, why Bangxin takes happiness as its culture?
那么为什么邦信用快乐作为自己的企业文化呢?
Again, Happy Bangxin, the bulletin, offers the answer.

Happiness brings us confidence. Only those who were confident of their future would stay happy. For man of confidence, the navigation light will lead his way in the dark sea, and the flag of victory will fly when in tight corner. He will press forward in face of difficulties with firm determination to succeed.
快乐带给我们信心。只有对未来充满信心的人才会快乐。自信的人,在夜航的大海里能看到明亮的航标灯,在困苦的境遇中能看到胜利的红旗。他会迎难而上,坚定地夺取胜利。
Happiness helps improve efficiency. Grief confuses and disturbs people. One can hardly collect himself in gloom, let alone being efficient. In contrast, happiness makes one fresh and effectively concentrated in the work.
快乐帮助我们有效率的工作。人在忧愁时,脑袋发紧,思想混沌,做事打不起精神,哪有效率可言?相反,快乐让人轻松愉快的投入到工作中,效率倍增。
Happiness leads us to harmony. Only with happiness can we create harmonious atmosphere. Happiness, as corporate culture, is to set a tone of harmony within the company, and it embraces the goal of building a harmonious society.
快乐是一种和谐的氛围。只有快乐能营造和谐的气氛。快乐作为公司文化奠定了和谐的基调,体现了构建和谐社会的目标。
Our management often says that if you are not in a pleasant state, you can take one or several days off, since poor state of mind affects the work adversely. However, if someone feels gloomy all the time, he’d better consider of changing his job, because he is out of Bangxin’s culture of happiness. Bangxin, as a transition platform of COAMC, is destined to face all kinds of difficulties. In a happy culture, we find it easy to get inspired and will not fail any trials.
我们领导常说,心情不好你就休息一天或几天,心情不好会影响工作。但如果你总是心情不好,就与邦信的快乐文化不合拍了,你就要考虑另谋前程。邦信是东方公司的转型平台,在前进的道路上肯定有许多沟沟坎坎。我们以快乐为企业文化,笑对困难,鼓起勇气,无往不利!
Bangxin has always been pursuing happiness in all kinds of ways to benefit us staff.
邦信一直在采取各种方法努力实现快乐文化,让我们员工受益。
First of all, Bangxin trusts us. No matter where you are from, or when you joined the company, you are equally trusted. Do you know who is said to be the youngest director of all the Hong Kong listed companies? He is a department manager in his early thirties from Bangxin. Yes, we are able to put our abilities to the best use regardless of our age or record. Every one is entitled to the company’s full support so long as he shows talent and we all feel like part of a big happy family.
首先,邦信信任我们。不论你来自何方,早来晚到,只要进入公司,都将同等的被信任。你知道谁是香港上市公司中最年轻的董事吗?他是来自邦信的一个三十多岁的部门经理。是的,在邦信,员工不论年龄和资历,都能充分发挥自己的才干。只要展露才华,公司就给你提供发展的条件和强有力的支持。我们都觉得是这个快乐大家庭的一员。
Then, Bangxin motivates us instead of pressing us. The company emphasizes in praise and incentives, and the staff works in a state of ease and pleasure. What’s more, Bangxin sets goals attainable and gives extra awards for extra achievement, so that the fair goal won’t become the excuse to slack. If you were one of the Bangxin’s staff, wouldn’t you be happy to accomplish the task and win extra award at the same time?
其次,邦信激励我们。邦信激励员工,而不是给予员工压力。公司注重肯定、表扬的管理方式,让员工在精神放松,心境快乐下开展工作。邦信还制定了恰当的考核目标,超额完成任务会得到超额奖励。因而恰当的考核目标并非留下偷懒的余地,如果你是邦信的一员,在完成任务的同时还获得了超额的奖励,难道你不会快乐吗?
Finally, Bangxin improves us. In a newly-established company as Bangxin, continuous learning and training are especially important. When a new business is explored, the staff are trained about the rules, process and operation. For instance, when the company is entrusted to recover “suspicious” assets of China Construction Bank, a training class was launched as soon as the prosecution team was set up. The team soon learned the rules and the know-how from experts, and quickly adapted themselves into the new roles.
最后,邦信培育我们。邦信是个新成立的公司,不断的学习和培训显得特别重要。在开展新的业务时,公司会组织培训,让业务人员掌握制度规定,业务流程,操作程序。比如在受托追偿建行可疑类资产时,资产经营部团队一建立,就开办了可疑类资产处置培训班,聘请掌握政策规定、熟悉处置知识、业务熟练、经验丰富的专业人员给予授课,使新团队很快进入了角色。
Employees are also encouraged to study by themselves. Vacation is offered, and training and material expenses are provided. Now, self-study becomes a common practice in Bangxin. Some colleagues are preparing for professional examination, and some are studying for master or even doctoral degrees.
邦信还鼓励员工自学,并提供假期和一定的资料培训费。目前公司员工自学空气浓厚,爱学习爱钻研蔚然成风,有的准备参考各种业务资格证书,有的在考硕士甚至博士。
In a company which trusts you, motivates you,and improves you, I believe any of us should be happy to serve ever after.
在一个信任你,激励你、发挥你和培育你的公司,我相信任何一个人都愿意永远为公司服务。
I joined Bangxin in 2006. I used to wonder if I would encounter a kind of culture shock, and I guess most of my colleagues worried the same when they first came to an SOE. Fortunately, I found soon the spirit of happiness is everywhere in the company. When I feel bad, the comfort from a colleague or the encouragement from the supervisor often cheers me up, and all the embarrassment would just be gone. I then continue to dedicate myself to the firm, both for it and for myself. It is true, indeed, that in the beginning we joined the company for some practical reasons like salary, which by the way we still care much about, but the spirit of happiness shapes the end. Now though we still struggle out of bed every morning, thank god on Friday, and count the days for holiday, we do enjoy every working day in the happy family, and cheer the achievement.
我于2006年来到邦信。我曾经担心是否会不适应邦信的企业文化,我想我的大部分同事在初次来到这个国有企业时都有这个担心。幸运的是快乐精神一直伴随着我们。当我心情不好时,来自同事的安慰,来自领导的鼓励都会让我振作起来,麻烦将不翼而飞。我会振作起来,继续为公司效力。当然,我们最初来到公司都是为了薪水和成就这些我们一直关心的东西,但快乐让我们有了更多的收获。现在,虽然我们每天还是要挣扎着起床,为周末的到来欢呼,天天盼着假期,但我们确实在这个快乐家庭中享受着每一天的工作,并为佳绩欢呼。
Franklin Roosevelt said, happiness lies not in the mere possession of money, it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort. May I say that Bangxin’s spirit of happiness also lies in our daily work, in our sense of belonging to Bangxin!
弗兰克林 罗斯福曾说过,快乐不止来源于财富,还来源于成就和创新。请允许我加上,邦信的快乐精神还来源于我们每天的工作,我们对邦信的归属感。
